When Tine Kutschbach and Falko Schmieder decided to put together a volume of essays for Sigrid Weigel’s birthday, I decided to create a series of collages about clothes. The books central idea is that clothes are a very powerful medium through which we can gain valuable insights into the cultural history of society. The collages that I offered to the editors played with aspects that are important to Sigrid Weigel’s career, questions of gender and visibility, the importance of antiquity, and scientific explorations of cultural phenomena.
