I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE — ICH SEHE WAS, WAS DU NICHT SIEHST

BOHEI Gallery on Weserstr. 43 in 12045 Berlin-Neukölln will be hosting a solo show with collages by D.M. Nagu from Aug. 16 to 18. It opens on Thursday 16th at 7 p.m.

“I spy with my little eye” is the title of a children’s game everyone knows. The world is right before our eyes, but everyone seems to see something different. Unless, of course, we agree to share a perspective and see the same thing for a short while.

The collages on show are about seeing what doesn’t immediately hit the eye. In the abstract works, it’s the small details that disturb the sense of regularity and reduce notches to smoothness. The figurative collages, which sometimes consist of no more than two superimposed pictures, try to reveal the chasm behind the surface. By destroying wholeness, these collages up spaces for interpretation that knows neither right nor wrong.
